The Mortification of the Flash

The Alarmist 4

  1. The judge who ate the man

wept in the hastily-constructed Perspex dock.

  1. The judge who judged the judge

sat on the opposite side of the mobile room

to the judge who ate the man, on the cushioned chair he’d built at home.

  1. The judge who judged the judge was surrounded

by sound artists who recorded TV anchors

interviewing TV anchors, each with an opinion or two.

  1. The photographer whose pictures were of people

taking pictures stood outside in the steady rain,

focussed only on the father who’d fathered

the judge who ate the man, who took pictures

of people taking pictures of his son,

who’d arrived at the court a little earlier,

in a heavily-guarded van.
